About Web of Trust

"Web of Trust" digital technologies have been around for about 20 years and it is widely used in all shapes and forms to bind people and digital elements together. If you use Internet banking, have a "online money" account or belong to a online Social or Business Network, then you are already familiar and part of the concepts thereof. Your banking card number is linked to various information about yourself, like your address, your phone number and your identity (ID or SSN) number, which in turn is linked to your public information. You are linked to your banking profile through various security measures, like your card number, username, password and Pin number which in turn allows you full access to your money.

It links you as a natural person to your already online digital and public identity records (your Name, Last name, Age and Gender) through the VERiiD IMS. The difference is that you can now manage your profile from a central system and control what is given to other sites requiring identity verification. As owner of your VERiiD IMS profile you are also in control of your online identity status and can strengthen your online verification even further through your Web of Trust.

The Web of Trust is made up of people you know and who know you personally. You will gain verification strength by inviting two people (over the age of 21) who know you into your Web of trust to vouch for your digital identity. You can also vouch for their digital identity, thus assisting them to gain confidence points in their identity verification scoring.

A VERiiD notary is assigned to every personal Web of trust to assist you in all instances, but also to compare your uploaded Photo ID document to your uploaded digital photo (High-level verification). Once the Notary is convinced you are who you say you are, they have the authority to assign additional points to your confidence scoring system.
 
Parental control
» If you have under aged children, you can manually add and manage their VERiiD IMS until they are old enough to qualify for their own VERiiD. As legal guardian, you will have the option to be notified when they use their VERiiD to join new online services in the Parental control section of your IMS profile
