How do you protect a person's privacy, but still have adequate knowledge of that person's credentials?
Simple, less is more. The VERiiD system promotes the Member's right to freedom, right to privacy and the right to choose, by giving Members of online interactive services the option to confirm selective or all online verified identity credentials, if and -or where needed to qualify the Member for using diverse online interactive services, without ever having to compromise privacy.
Fundamentals of the system
Online identity verification can be described in general as a digital method of mapping a known entity to an unknown entity in a non-face-to-face online environment. The known entity in our case is the identifier (ID or SSN number) linked to digital online public identity information of a person, where the unknown entity is the physical person.
Linking this data to the rightful owner in a non face-to-face environment, is what the VERiiD IMS does best. Once the relationship between the physical person and their identity information is established, it gets a new online identifier, we call the VERiiD (Online Verified Identity number). Each VERiiD is unique and linked to the IMS profiling system of the relevant person. After the basic verification is done, there are added features within the IMS that can be used to increase and strengthen verification elements.
The VERiiD IMS data is used when a person joins a Partner site and chooses to be verified, the VERiiD API will selectively confirm identity credentials of that person. VERiiD IMS is unique in every way, when communicating to Partner sites, no private information of a person is divulged, only specific, selective elements of the person's identity is confirmed.
